Obituary of Minerva Rivera Nieves
Minerva Rivera Nieves, 88, of East Windsor, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Serenity Hospice at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton, NJ.
Born and raised in Guanica, Puerto Rico, where she loved living with her family and dear friends before moving to New Jersey several years ago. She was an avid Domino player and was great at playing the game. She loved her baseball games while living in Puerto Rico and also loved all types of flowers, specifically sunflowers. She would always have a catch phrase to anything someone said and respond with a huge smile. Lastly, she loved her ice cream, any flavor as long as it was on a sugar cone.
Predeceased by her parents, Abraham Rivera and Isabelle Nieves and her beloved siblings; she is survived by her daughters, Nerva Acosta of East Windsor, Jenny Martinez Scherer and her husband, Dennis, of Hamilton Square; her son, Edwin Martinez of Brooklyn, NY; her beloved grandchildren and their spouses, J.J. Acosta, Jr. and Marianelly Acosta of Florida, Joseph A. Acosta of Bronx, NY, and Manuel Cruz of Hamilton; her great-grandchildren, Dominic Acosta of Florida, Benjamin Perez of Texas, Briana Acosta of Hightstown, and Genesis Vasquez of Florida; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Roy Ballacillo, officiating.
Cremation will be private following the services.
