Cathy… Dean, Diana & Tom and all of Dennis' family…
…my very *deep* and heartfelt condolences.
As I spoke on Sat the 8th:
Dennis… Dennis… Dennis...
We are all travelers in life...
Antonio Machado spoke beautifully of this, when he wrote in Spanish...
"Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar."
In English, Machado's words translate variously as... Traveler, there is no path, the path is made in the going.
or...
Traveler, your footprint is your path, and nothing else.
or...
Traveler, there is no way, the way is made by going.
Dennis embodied Machado's words… but in Dennis' obituary, I suggested the word "selfless".
Selfless... Dennis defined the word. In fact, if you look in a dictionary, there should be a picture of Dennis!
I was a co-worker with Dennis. Our offices were adjacent for number of years. We met on a project together... but I trust you know enough of Dennis' professional life... so I won't dwell on that... soon we became personal friends.
I admired Dennis, he has vacationed with us at the beach in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, several times. At the rental house, everyone shared day-to-day tasks... we *never* had to ask him to do some chore... Dennis just took care of tasks without being asked or cajoled, in any way whatsoever.
Dennis' "demeanor" in those personal settings was a wonderful example of WYSIWYG... What You See Is What You Get... beautiful in all ways. Dennis didn't mask or hide himself in any way; he didn't have to... he was honest and true to his word... in *deed*... in how he lived his life.
I'll not be able ever... to forget Dennis. I dare say I loved him for what he was... a beautiful man, a beautiful human being.
Sincerely, Jeremy & Marcia Pollack

To Cathy, Dean, Diana, Tom, and all the rest of Dennis's Family including all his his many nieces, nephews and good friends, some of who I had the honer to meet for the first time today. My wife Barbara and myself are deeply sorry for your loss. Especially you Cathy, who Dennis loved so deeply with his whole heart. Just look at some of the photo's I posted and you could see it in all of the pictures that both of you are in. You made Dennis very very happy.
Please let Barbara or myself know if you need anything at all even if it is just someone to lean on or talk to during this time. I know Dennis left a big void in the world and your life when He left you to go see the Lord. Just remember it was not his choice to leave you. He's now probably smiling down on us up in Heaven while He helps the Lord with what ever needs to be done, Just like He did on earth after He had just finished eating and rather sitting down after a big meal and relaxing, would get up and helped us clear the table and start on the dishes.
Dennis had helped us put up the Christmas tree one year, a few years back and found this clear little plastic box about 2 inches square left over after the tree was decorated. He found a red ribbon and tied it to the box and hung it on our tree. The following year He came to visit after we already had the tree all decorated and we were proudly showing it to Dennis and he asked us, where's my box? He was like that, ALWAYS KIDDING AROUND WITH A BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE. We will truly miss him.
The following year, I made sure His clear plastic box was on the tree!!!
Love,
Barbara & Bill Tittle

Cathy i am sorry for your loss. I know the sudden loss of your one true love is heartbreaking. May you find comfort in your faith in the days ahead.
I am not at all surprised to hear how Selfless Dennis was towards his community when that is how i would think of him as well. Our Uncle Dennis always collected change in coffee cans all around his room. It made my heart swell when i read how he came to Better Beginnings with his jars of change, That is so him!
Dennis always had a passion for us children. He enjoyed spending a lot of his time playing with us kids. And as he got older he gifted us extravaganly for Christmas and such. He also did the same for his great nieces and nephews. He had a great sense of humor and was level headed. He was never judgemental, and always looked for the best in evryone he knew. I dont remember him speaking negitive of anyone.
I have so many warm memories of my uncle Dennis. But the memory that stands out the most for me, was the year our family spent sprink break '87 at his apartment in New Jersey. He was a wonderful host. For he took us to many amazing tourist spots and resturants. We brought board games and cards to play as a family. I dont think we ever laughed so much in our lives. I know our stomach muscles were sore when we left his house.
And with all this bein said, it is very hard not to sit here today and not weep. He truly will be missed by so many. We all lost someone very amazing and dear to our hearts.
