Obituary of Myrtle Lee Shaw Slack
Myrtle Lee Shaw Slack was born on January 15, 1932 in Alachua, Florida to Nora Ellen Hall Shaw and John Wesley Shaw. She answered God’s call and went from labor to reward on February 27, 2021. She was a devoted mother, a loving grandmother and great grandmother, a caring sister and a true friend.
Myrtle was educated in Pinellas County Schools and graduated from Pinellas High School where she excelled in sports and academics. Her love of sports lasted a lifetime as she was a huge sports fan with some of her favorites being tennis and golf.
Myrtle loved the Lord and the word of God with all of her heart and could always bless you with scriptures or songs to speak to your spirit. She was a faithful member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Hightstown, NJ for many years serving with the Missionary Society Board and Usher Board, Fellowship Senior Choir and served as a Communion Stewardess. She was a dedicated servant for the Lord.
In 2013, she retired from East Windsor Regional School District, after more than 25 years of tireless service. Her dedication led to her being awarded the ‘Perfect Attendance’ Award on multiple occasions in the district. She truly loved her co-workers and her “Kids” and would light up when she would see them as they grew through the years.
Myrtle adored her family and friends. It was her pleasure to be in their presence and brought her much joy and excitement. She was always so proud to share in good news and celebrating their accomplishments while beaming with pride. She loved to read and encouraged others to do the same as she would say “You never stop learning.”
