Obituary of Jose D. Lopez, Sr.
José Demetrio Lopez, Sr., 72, passed away peacefully at Virtua Mt. Holly Hospital surrounded by his wife, children, and family.
José was born on January 11, 1951 to Irma Lopez and Demetrio Lopez Rios in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. After graduating from Hightstown High School, he enlisted in the United States Marines and served four valiant years during the Vietnam War.
José is survived by his wife of 33 years, Christine Lopez. He is also survived by his 6 children, Sandra Lopez (52), José Lopez, Jr. (50), Victoria Lopez-Lasane (47), Joseph Lopez (35), Cole Lopez (32), and Julie Lopez (29); his 15 grandchildren, Lenette Lopez, Marisol Lopez, Arielle Lopez, Olivia Lopez, Anthony Lopez, Jacob Lopez, LaTisha Ashe, Ky Lopez, Zoe Lasane, James Lasane, Jr., Kaylee Lopez, Aiden Lopez, Jake, Mark Lopez-Drayton, Julianna Drayton, and Jaxson Lopez; his 8 great-grandchildren, Javion, Jur’Miyah, Isa, Andre’ Jr, Xuli, Noah, Myla and Amayah. José is also survived by his two sisters, Miriam Fostek and Ida Navarro (Facio Navarro).
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Irma Lopez and Demetrio Lopez Rios; his in-laws, Sadie and Dominic Chianese; his brother-in-law, Steve Fostek; as well as many other family members and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Avenue, Hightstown, NJ, with funeral services beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Following the service, José will be cremated and interment will take place with his parents at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hightstown, NJ.
A Celebration of Life Reception will follow the service.
