Obituary of Richard R. Groben

Our dearly loved husband and father Richard R. (Dick) Groben was called home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, after a long illness and enduring battle with Thrombocytopenia (ITP).

He is survived by his wife, Anne; children, Richard Scott Groben and wife Donna, Catherine Anne (Groben) Bisgrove and husband Dale John, Lawrence Geer Groben and wife Jennifer; grandchild, Jack Geer Groben; sister, Joan Duff Bohrer; 3 sisters- in- law, Joyce Groben, Sylvia (Risso) Kline, Mindy Risso; 3 brothers-in-law, Peter Risso, Jim Risso, Russel Kline; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Dick was born to Alice and Roswell Groben in New Brunswick, NJ on September 26th, 1941, and spent his early years in Metuchen, NJ. He married Anne Marie (Risso) Groben and enjoyed 61 years of a wonderful marriage.

Dick excelled in various sports from an early age. He was a star athlete in high school and received football athletic scholarships from several prestigious universities; finally choosing Penn State University.

Dick graduated from Penn State University with a BA degree in 1963 and worked his whole career in Human Resources. In business, he was recognized for his hard work, wisdom, and integrity. He led by example with humility. His last position was Director of Human Resources at Fresenius Medical Care in Ogden, Utah. He retired in 2005.

Dick enjoyed living in the West, hiking in the mountains, and visiting the national parks. He would plan a memorable yearly vacation with family/friends at historic rental homes (Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Bucks County Pennsylvania, Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ).

Dick will be remembered for his quiet strength, patience, loyalty, and kindness. This was seen in the love and care of his wife Anne and relationships with family, friends, neighbors, and his church family.

Cremation Services were held privately.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date at a time to be announced.

Arrangements are under the direction of Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
