Obituary of Lawrence "Larry" Roy Foss
Lawrence "Larry" Roy Foss, 81, of Monroe Township, NJ, passed peacefully on March 29, 2024, with family at his bedside.
Born in Chicago in 1942, he moved with his family to California while in Middle School. He was athletic in high school and enjoyed time at the Wutzit in Santa Clara. After graduating high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where he worked on missiles and later in Oklahoma. He loved the Army but left to start a family back in California. In CA he worked for Western Electric and stayed with the telephone companies until he retired as a Project Engineer for AT&T. Even after losing his left leg to cancer at 36, Larry kept active with a camping group, driving his boat (teaching his kids to waterski at "the Delta" and Don Pedro), and taking his youngest son, Darrell to his BMX races, where he ran a small parts and repair company. Larry moved to NJ to be able to watch his grandchildren grow up and settled at Clearbrook senior community where he was active for some time and became a fixture riding his electric chair with his Bichon-Poodle, Muffie, alongside or in his lap.
Larry is survived by his three siblings, Patricia Werba (Alan), Steven (Carol), and Warren (Kim) as well as his four children, Michael, Karin Decker (Glen), Randall (Gina) and Darrell (Stacy). He leaves behind nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and their children and a lifetime of good friends and memories.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Mission City Memorial Park in Santa Clara, CA.
