Obituary of Augustus John Zappini
Augustus John Zappini, 86, of Jackson, NJ, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro, NJ.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Zappini resided in Philadelphia for 64 years prior to moving to Jackson, NJ several years ago. He was a graduate of Olney High School in Philadelphia and was an honorably discharged US Navy veteran, having served on the Intrepid. During his long career as an electronics technician he worked for Jack Zappini TV Repair for 15 years, Levin’s Furniture Store for 11 years, the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for 13 years and lastly, the US Army Support Activity, Fort Dix for 22 years. He retired in 2016. Mr. Zappini enjoyed Frank Sinatra, fixing cars, model trains, reading about science, photography and was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Predeceased by his parents, Augustine Eugene and Margaret Veronica (McDermott) Zappini and his beloved first wife, Julia; he is survived by his loving wife, Janet S. (Simmons Ferguson) Zappini; his daughters, Jane Dumsha and her husband Ken, Nancy Patterson and Lynn Perry; his step-son, William Ferguson and his wife Beverly; his stepdaughter, Angela Ferguson and her children, Charlie Bellmyer and Tiffany Bellmyer; his brother, William Zappini and his life-partner, Sue Boyer; and his cats, Cleo and Whitey.
A Gathering for Friends and Family will take place Monday, July 29, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tommy's Inn at Millstone, 560 Monmouth Road, Millstone, New Jersey 08510, with a memorial service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Cremation services were private under the direction of Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
