Obituary of Joanne S. Mercantini
Joanne S. Mercantini, 71, of Hightstown, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Penn Medicine of Princeton at Plainsboro in Plainsboro.
Born in Princeton, New Jersey, Joanne was raised in Hightstown for most of her life. She settled down in Cranbury for several years prior to moving to Robbinsville three years ago. Joanne graduated from Hightstown High School with the Class of 1971. Following her time at school, she went on to work as a bartender for Jim’s Country Diner in Windsor, and then as a dispatcher for Treat’s Garage and Mackey’s Towing in Windsor.
Joanne treasured time with her friends and neighbors and especially enjoyed visiting with them while at the Hightstown Diner. Recently, Joanne enjoyed volunteering at the New Jersey Fire Museum in Allentown.
Daughter of the late Dorothy (Kopliner) and Horace P. Stonaker; she is survived by her son, Louis T. Mercantini; her grandson, Tyler Mercantini; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Kathy Stonaker; and her niece, Meagan Stonaker.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Service, 136 Morrison Avenue, Hightstown, NJ. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mercer Street, Hightstown.
