Obituary of David Woodrow Souza

David W. Souza, 30, of East Windsor, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro, NJ.

Born in Princeton, David was raised in East Windsor. He was a graduate of Hightstown High School, Class of 2012. He worked at Home Depot in East Windsor for the past five years as a customer service associate.

David was a kind and gentle soul who loved his books of Epic Fantasy and history laced with heroes and adventures. His musical taste was eclectic. It ran the gamut from: John Lee Hooker to Django Rheinhardt, and from Bach to The Band. David was socially shy, secretly brilliant and openly compassionate. In his persona, he wore a Pork Pie hat, a tight-lipped smile and eyes open in astonishment. He loved his family and his dinners of spaghetti and meatballs. David was large and round without sharp corners, so easy to love, so padded with kindness, that your arms could never fully discover its boundaries. Taken from our lives at the age of 30 by a disease that affects less than 4 out of 1 million individuals per year is hard to grasp. Our hearts are broken, tomorrows seem like treason. But we can slowly mend it together because of the gift of David in our life...

David was predeceased by his grandparents, Paul and Dottie Souza, and Robert and Margaret Maloney; his uncle, Paul Souza; and his aunt, Linda Maloney. He is survived by his parents, Michael J. and Mary Beth (Maloney) Souza; his brother, Robert Souza and his wife, Briana Bakke Souza, of North Brunswick; his uncles, Richard Souza of Gloucester, MA, Robert Souza of Arlington Hts, IL, David Souza of Gloucester, MA., and Steven Maloney of Evansville WI; his aunt, Susan Maloney of Exton PA, and his cousins.

A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Services at Glackin Chapel, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ. Words of Remembrance will be offered at 3:30 p.m.

Cremation services will be held privately.
